What does it mean to be a visionary? We hear this phase used constantly in media about people that are leaders. But, do we all have the ability to be visionaries in our own lives and the lives of others around us? The definition of a visionary is a person that is full of foresight: characterized by unusually acute foresight and imagination, imaginary: produced by, resulting from, or originating in the imagination. The definition explains so much of what we need to become visionaries in our own right. If we look to the future and imagine the impossible the possibilities are endless.
One of the reasons I love to read is that it gives me the chance to exercise my mind. When I read I am transformed to the world that is created within my mind’s eye. The beautiful thing about the mind is that it can take you on a journey around the world without even leaving your seat. This is also true of what you can see for your future. Just as you imagine what a scene is in a book, you can imagine for your life. When we imagine our dreams and aspirations as reality, we create the path within our minds. If we continue to exercise the mind and focus on the realization of these dreams or visions they begin to be part of our long term memory. The mind sees these scenarios as real and will work to create them in your life.
The key to becoming a visionary in your own life is to let yourself dream. Immersing yourself in a future that is balanced and creating a sense of fulfillment through visualization is the first step in creating a life that is forward thinking and progressive in its own right. Everyone has the ability to be a visionary, the key is to let yourself dream and imagine. Sit back, relax and imagine a world where you are content. See your life as you have always dreamed it would be as the definition says visions originating in the imagination and give you foresight for the future.
